Adventures Near and Far

Road To Recovery and Race Pace

Spring of 2018 I began to....let’s just say I intermittently didn't feel great while riding and training. What became of it is I learned I had a PFO, hole in my heart. The hole caused me to loose Oxygenated blood. So after a quick and easy cath surgery the day before Thanksgiving, a year of taking blood thinners while my heart built up scare tissue, I’m ready to start training and getting back into bike shape. First up is JayP’s Fat Pursuit 200k. With five weeks to go, I’m working on my layering, gear and conditioning. I’m treating this ride as a true “pursuit” to the finish. No time goal, just ride and finish. My only real concern is constantly sweating out my layers. Right now, I’m just planning carrying several extra layers that I’ll change throughout the ride. After that, Niki and I will be headed to Italy Divide in May. But, one adventure at a time.
